Slag is a by-product of the steelmaking process formed during smelting to absorb impurities such as sulfur and phosphorus, protect the molten metal from re-oxidation, and maintain thermal stability within the furnace. Beshay Steel operates dedicated slag processing lines designed to maximize metallic recovery, reducing metal losses and improving overall yield. The processed slag is crushed and classified into five size fractions: 0 to 4 mm, 4 to 6 mm, 6 to 14 mm, 14 to 23 mm, and 23 to 40 mm. Recovered materials are reused internally, supplied to external industries, or sold for applications such as cement production, road base layers, and concrete. This approach supports efficient resource utilization, reduces waste, and contributes to lower environmental impact and CO₂ intensity across the steelmaking value chain.
