The Environment

Our target is to have the minimal possible impact on the environment ensuring that not only our employees are working in a clean and safe place but that surrounding areas are not adversely affected by us. It is of the upmost importance that our impact on the environment is continually monitored and that we take every measure possible to limit our emissions. Our policy is to continue to meet the standards set out by the Ministry of State for Environment Affairs and use new and improved technology to prevent air and water pollution. We want to create a clean sustainable business which can be a working example for other industries in the world.

During steel making, emissions of CO, CO₂, SOₓ and NOₓ are a known by product.  Beshay Steel invested into a superior de-dusting system, with a suction capacity of 2.5 million Nm3/h.  This allows us to reduce and filter our emissions in order to provide a safe working environment for our employees and decrease our impact on the environment.  This off-gas is constantly monitored and the steel making process is adjusted accordingly to minimise those emissions even further.

We have implemented several strategies to ensure that we achieve and surpass our sustainability targets. Firstly we are assessing our carbon footprint by determining what the major emissions of greenhouse gasses are, including those those involved in our supply chain. We will continue to monitor our emissions frequently and take appropriate steps to ensure that they are kept to a minimum. We also are committed to increasing the quantity of steel recycled and transport efficiency throughout our supply chain. This will help to increase the energy efficiency of the entire company along with other projects involving research into sustainable energy, including solar power, for all future projects.
